About Violence Prevention Network

Violence Prevention Network is a leading German non-governmental organisation with over 20 years’ experience of preventing and countering extremism, employing over 130 practitioners in 10 regional offices across Germany and abroad. VPN has worked with over 2.000 individual cases of violent extremists (Islamist, right-wing, and other forms of violent extremists) within prisons – and many more outside of prison – to change violent behaviours and extremist mindsets. We build whole-of-society partnerships geared towards prevention, disengagement, deradicalisation, rehabilitation and reintegration.

Internationally, we share Violence Prevention Network’s experience and expertise in preventing and countering violent extremism with stakeholders globally. We do this through participation in EU projects, contracts with national governments, and partnerships with international networks and organisations. We are currently prioritising practitioner-practitioner exchange of best practice in disengagement and deradicalization, through the International Network for Disengagement and Exit (INDEX); and the building of multistakeholder partnerships to empower online to offline referrals to disengagement practitioners.
